How the connection works

  1. Connect

Standard Sage OAuth2. You authorise the businesses you choose, one by one or across your Partner Edition client list, scoped to the data each workflow needs. No shared logins, no screen-scraping, revocable from inside Sage at any time.

  2. Learn

FlowLeap reads the business: your ledger accounts, analysis types, contacts, existing bank rules, VAT rates per line, and how each supplier and transaction type has actually been treated before. It learns the mapping logic your practice already applies, per client, rather than imposing a standard chart.

  3. Propose

Work comes back as drafts and a review queue. Every proposed posting carries a confidence score, the rule or precedent it came from, and the ledger account and VAT rate it would hit.

  4. You approve

You release. Approved items post to Sage; everything else stays in the queue with the reason it stopped and what it needs from you.

What we don't do

  • We don't move your data out of Sage.
  • We don't submit a VAT201 or file anything to SARS on your behalf.
  • We don't create or change a bank rule without you approving it.
  • We don't take an action we can't show you the reasoning for.

What FlowLeap can do in Sage Business Cloud

Read

  • Ledger accounts and analysis types
  • Contacts, sales invoices and purchase invoices
  • Bank accounts, feed status and unreconciled items
  • Existing bank rules and their mapping logic
  • VAT rates per line, VAT returns and audit trail
  • Aged debtors and creditors, trial balance, journals

Prepare

  • Coded purchase invoices and Quick Entries
  • Proposed bank allocations with the mapping rule that produced them
  • Proposed new or amended bank rules
  • Journal proposals with supporting references attached
  • VAT201 preparation packs with the exceptions listed
  • Month-end packs formatted for your financials process

Post on approval

  • Released against scopes defined per workflow and per client
  • Full audit trail of what posted, to which ledger account, and why
  • Read-back confirmation against Sage after every write

Purchase invoices and allocations post straight into Sage once released. Everything else is prepared for your approval — nothing reaches a client's ledger without a person signing it off.

Core workflows

Six workflows we build first on Sage Business Cloud. Each one is defined down to the parts that actually go wrong.

Enabled per client, per ledger account, per transaction type — not one switch across the whole book. Workflows are fully customiseable.

One view across every Sage client

Practices running twenty or two hundred businesses in Sage hit the same wall: the work is visible one company at a time. Which client is behind, whose VAT period closes next, whose bank feed has been dead for a fortnight, whose allocations nobody has verified this month — that answer means opening each business in turn.

FlowLeap reads across your whole client list and surfaces it in one place: what's outstanding, what's overdue, what's waiting on a client, and what has already been cleared and verified. You define what “done” means per client; we track against that, not against a status we invented.

Trust and control

Approval-first by design

The agent proposes, you release. Nothing reaches a client's ledger without a person approving it. That's the containment layer for anything the AI gets wrong, not a setting you can forget to switch on.

Every posting shows its reasoning

Each proposal names the ledger account, the VAT rate, and the rule, document or precedent behind it. Reviewing a posting shouldn't mean rebuilding the thinking yourself.

The same task, the same way

Defined workflows run on deterministic rules, so they execute identically every time, and judgement is reserved for the items that genuinely need it. Output you have to re-check from scratch isn't a saving.

Your workflows stay yours

Your mapping logic, SOPs and per-client configurations belong to you, documented and exportable. Each firm is isolated, and we don't train on your processes to serve anyone else.

Works with Sage and your other systems

FlowLeap runs alongside the rest of your stack — Sage Business Cloud with Sage Payroll Professional, AutoEntry, Draftworx and more. If your stack has a gap we haven't built for yet, that's usually the first thing we scope.

Which Sage this is — and what's coming

Live today

Everything above is Sage Business Cloud Accounting. We work with practices running it on its own, alongside Sage Payroll Professional, and in mixed books where some clients are still on Pastel Partner desktop. If your practice runs both Sage and Xero, one FlowLeap workflow can span both.

Sage 50, Sage 200 and Sage 300

On the roadmap

Plenty of the firms we speak to have their larger and older clients on Sage 50, Sage 200 or Sage 300 — running on a server in the office or hosted — and the cloud book is only part of the picture. Those platforms are on the roadmap and being built now.

They need a different connection to Business Cloud, which is why they're a separate build rather than a switch we can flip. There's no single multi-tenant API to authorise: each installation is its own environment, with its own database, its own version, and its own customisations. So instead of one OAuth connection, it takes a connector deployed against your environment, reading through the supported data layer, with the data-residency and access questions answered per site — and per client, where each one is a separate company file.

What doesn't change is everything above the ledger. The mapping-rule verification, the allocation and coding logic, the VAT201 cycle, the month-end pack and the approval queue are the same workflows against a different connection. What changes is how we get in, how often the data moves, and how much of it can be written back — which is exactly what we'd scope with you rather than promise on a page.

If a real part of your book sits on Sage 50, 200 or 300, tell us on the call. The firms that raise it are the ones that shape the order we build in.
